FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q. How long does it take to order and dye a pair of shoes?
A. This process typically takes approximately two to three weeks. Shoes purchased from our stock can usually be dyed within a week, depending on the complexity of mixing the perfect dye for your shoes.
Q. Can you put a rush on the order?
A. Rush orders are available. Colourful Soles does not profit from your emergency, however, we do ask that you pay the UPS Overnight charge from the shoe manufacturer. This charge is approximately $20-$30.00.
Q. Do you outsource your dyeing?
A. Absolutely not! Our in-store dye and color lab will significantly reduce your lead-time to receive your shoes. Many large Bridal chains outsource their dyeing to professionals like Colourful Soles.
Q. How much does dyeing cost?
A. Our standard dye charge is only $6.00 per pair or handbag. Click our Dyeing tab to the left for pricing on outside shoes.
Q. What type of Credit Cards do you take?
A. MasterCard and Visa only.
Q. How can I personalize my shoes?
A. Beads, Pearls, Rhinestones and other appliques can be glued to your shoe after dyeing. Please ask our staff for examples of how we can truly make them unique.
Q. Do you carry anything other than shoes?
A. We also stock a full selection of handbags and jewelry, and accessories to compliment your look.
Q. What fabric should I choose for my shoes?
A. That depends on your gown. You'll want to match your fabric to the hem of your gown, rather than the bodice. A satin gown needs a satin shoe; while boca, also called luxe,is a neutral fabric that complements most bridal materials.
Q. What is Boca or Luxe?
A. Boca is a shimmering material, without the heavy shine of satin or the flatness of crepe. We suggest Boca for dresses made of organza, chiffon, silk, lace, tulle...everything, in fact, except satin. For satin gowns, of course, you need satin shoes!
Q. Must all my Bridesmaids wear the same shoe?
A. It's not necessary, and often not practical. The girls should wear whatever footwear they prefer. The important thing is that all their shoes be dyed at the same time, from the same dye batch. Also, all the toe characters should be the same (open or closed), since that's what will show in your photos!
Q. Does lighting matter when picking a color for my shoes?
A. Absolutely! If your event will be outdoors, be sure to let your dye specialist know. Many colors change dramatically in outdoor light.
Q. My gown is white. Why should I bring a swatch of it when I'm buying my shoes?
A. Many white bridal gowns are actually a diamond white -- a slightly less bright shade that will clash with pure white shoes. Your shoes may need a "bridal wash" to tone down the brightness, and match your gown perfectly.
Q. Can my shoes be re-dyed?
A. Only to black. A drastic change, such as from ivory to navy, can sometimes be done; but for a perfect color match, you need to start off with a white shoe. Shoes dyed at Colourful Soles can be brought back to be dyed to Black for FREE after your occasion.
Q. Are my shoes waterproof?
A. No, your shoes will be dyed with a water soluble dye that will run when wet. You can spray your shoes with a water repellent but they cannot be re-dyed black afterwards. A good rainy day option is to change into your dyed shoes at the wedding.
Q. Can I dye the shoes myself?
A. Unless you are a professional, it is not recommended that you attempt to dye shoes yourself. This attempt to save money could cost be very expensive in the end!
Q. I didn't buy my shoes from you. Will you dye them?
A. Of course, as long as your shoes are made of a recognizable dyeable fabric. We charge $20.00 for this service. However, you may have bought shoes that the seller claimed were dyeable, that really are not. Our attempts to dye these shoes with our professional dyes have not proven successful and we will kindly regret on most opportunities. For questions, please ask our sales staff.
Q. What is your return policy?
A. Once shoes are dyed, they are not returnable. Please click on our link to the left for the complete details.
